Parade Welcomes All Who Live in Chicago

FlagOne of Chicago’s most well-attended and longest running annual events will occur next weekend. On Saturday, May 28th, Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade will have families leaving their Chicago homes to fill the loop with cheers, tapping feet, and flag waving! The parade will step off at 12:00 p.m., proceeding south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street. Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade has been a favorite activity for residents who live in Chicago since 1870 and over 10,000 people are expected to attend. This year’s Grand Marshal is General Raymond T. Odierno.

The City of Chicago will also be honoring Illinois Gold Star Families and any who have given their lives for our country at 11 a.m. on that same day. Families and friends are asked to join at the Eternal Flame in Daley Plaza, located at Dearborn and Washington Street, for the event of remembrance and wreath laying.
