Live in Chicago and Skate at Millennium Park

Skate near your Chicago homeIce skating in Chicago is a beautiful thing. Gathering with friends, co-workers, family, and the community at large in this very traditional yet oh-so-fun celebration of winter is a favorite of many who live in Chicago. The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park is expected to remain open through March of 2013, however now is the perfect time to take your spin around the rink. Admission is free although skate rental is $10 and weekday hours are from 12 to 8 p.m. Fridays the rink remains open until 10 p.m. and Saturdays it opens early at 10 a.m. Sunday skating is available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., allowing you plenty of time throughout the week to take a break from your Chicago home and “chill.”

Of course the key to a successful day or evening at the rink is warmth, so be sure to bundle up and bring some money for snacks and hot chocolate. Lockers are available if you need a place to store your things and skate sharpening is offered for $9 at the rink. On Fridays, you can also enjoy a free concert with Caroling at the Cloud Gate at 6 p.m. on November 30th, December 7th, 14th and 21st, providing even more opportunity for you to feel festive. Have a great time and dress warmly!
