Uptown

Uptown, located on Chicago’s north side neighborhood, between Foster and Irving Park, and Lake Michigan and Clark, is a culturally diverse community brimming with activity. Historic, ornately detailed renovated hotels and mansions combine with single-family homes, flats and apartments to create a unique blending of culture and time.

Broadway and Uptown Square are the center of history, culture, and commerce in Uptown. Uptown Square listed is on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Long-known as Chicago’s entertainment district, Uptown has welcomed everything from jazz and big bands to rock ‘n’ roll and comedy clubs. Charlie Chaplin and Gloria Swanson produced films at Uptown’s Essanay Studios, located at Andersonville Terrace. The Aragon Ballroom, Riviera Theater, Uptown Theatre, Green Mill Jazz Club, and Graceland Cemetery are all located in Uptown. Along with all the indoor entertainment, Uptown also connects to Lincoln Park and Montrose Beach and Harbor, allowing for easy access to outdoor activities.
