The South Loop encompasses some of Chicago’s most celebrated spaces – the Museum Campus, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, the Planitarium, Soldiers’ Field and Grant Park. It is a neighborhood bursting with activity.
The South Loop has experienced a lot of growth and redevelopment over the last several decades. Redevelopment commenced in the late 70s with several housing developments and conversion of the vintage spaces of Printer’s Row and peaked in the late 90s and early 2000s with dozens of high-rise condominiums, and the business environment that came with the expanding population.
Flourishing restaurants, shops, and varied housing options, from renovated older residences, luxury homes and loft conversions to magnificent condominiums and historical row houses, have popularized the fast growing neighborhood.
Despite the growth being experienced in the South Loop, residents still enjoy strolling along the sidewalk and supporting the very active South Loop Neighbors community organization.
