The Chicago Marathon has been an annual event since 1977. It’s a tradition to line the 26.2-mile course near Loop homes and cheer on the runners. The 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be held Sunday, October 13th. As usual, spectators will not be allowed at the start or finish lines at Grant Park.
To cheer runners at the start of the race, head to Grand Avenue, between Columbus Drive and State Street. Or go to State Street, between Grand Avenue and Jackson Boulevard. The Bank of America Cheer Zone at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road is perfect to encourage runners in the last leg of the race.
Many marathon runners are using their runs to support important charitable causes. Help bring attention to charities near where you live in the Loop by joining the Charity Block Party near Mile 14. It will be at Adams and Loomis Streets near Whitney Young High School.
After the race, join neighbors from Loop homes at the 27th Mile Post-Race Part and Runner Reunite in Grant Park (Butler Field). The party opens at 9 a.m. and winds down at 3 p.m. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is a wonderful event that brings the city of Chicago together. Click here for more details.
