Lincoln Square’s German Day Festival on September 5-7

German Day Festival

The German Day Festival is an annual event celebrates all things German. Traditional interactive cultural programs, music, dancing, and of course great food and beverages will be available for your enjoyment at this three day festival in our city’s Lincoln Square neighborhood.

The festival kicks off on Friday, with 6 p.m. opening ceremonies, and continues the next day, including the General Von Steuben Parade at 2 p.m. The parade celebrates Baron Friedrich von Steuben, who came to this country as a volunteer offering his services to General George Washington. General von Steuben converted the revolutionary army into a disciplined fighting force, instilling in them much needed inspiration, confidence and competence. The annual Von Steuben Parade is the German American Event of the year.  It is held in September, when hundreds of participants march, dance, play music or ride the many beautiful floats on Lincoln Avenue and join the festivities later at the German-American Fest.

The festivities continue throughout the weekend, and admission is free.
