Pilsen Neighborhood is located in the southwest side residential community area of Chicago.  In the late 19th century, the area was originally inhabited by European immigrants who worked in the stockyards and surrounding factories.

By the early 20th century, it became home to many wealthy businessmen as well as  labored middle class people. Famed author, Stuart Dybek hailed form Pilsen .

Development adjacent to Pilsen grew with the restoration of National Historic Register properties such as the 800+ unit South Water Market. That development spilled into Pilsen with Union Row Townhomes  and others and 18th Street is an active commercial corridor. The east side of Pilsen along Halsted  has one of Chicago’s largest art districts.
