Chinatown Summer Fair on July 20

This iconic event is one of the most ethnically unique outdoor events in Chicago and the Midwest. Attracting more than 40,000 people from throughout the region, Chinatown Summer Fair is a true celebration of Far East beauty and culture including food, art and music.

The fair, celebrating its 36th year in 2014, blends old with the new. Visitors experience the revered Lion Dance Procession as well as Chinese classical dance and music, demonstrations of martial arts, and displays of ancient art forms and disciplines. There is also Old and New World music performed by local and regional acts, artisans, food from award-winning neighborhood restaurants, a traveling Children’s Museum, a petting zoo, pony rides, a “hot legs” contest for men, a “cutest baby” contest and more.

All of this unique entertainment is packed into one mid-summer Sunday. Visitors leave Summer Fair having experienced a wondrous world of both ancient and modern Chinese pleasures.

Saturday, July 20, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Admission is free.
