Soho House Chicago celebrates the creative soul of the Second City with the launch of its first annual Art Week. Featuring an array of art-driven events, including the debut of an exclusive work of art by world-renowned Damien Hirst and a personal appearance and art talk with Wasalu Jaco (aka Lupe Fiasco), Art Week offers events for both members and non-members to illuminate the magnitude of Chicago’s established and emerging artists.

 

CURATE A COLLECTION: ASTROWIFEY NAIL ART
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21ST, 5PM – 9PM

Create a collection at your fingertips – literally. Acclaimed nail artist, Astrowifey, will be doing artist tribute nails in The Allis.

 

DAMIEN HIRST REVEAL
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21ST, 7PM

Known as “the bad boy of British art” Damien Hirst is one of the UK’s most recognized artists. On Wednesday, January 21 Soho House Chicago is proud to unveil the artwork he created especially for the property, which spells “Chicago” with real butterflies and is placed prominently in The Allis. There will be a talk about the intriguing career of Damien Hirst to attending guests.

 

DRINK & DRAW
THURSDAY, JANUARY 22ND, 6PM – 8PM

Tap into your creativity and tastebuds during an evening with Arcade Brewery and Bucketfeet. Sample a selection of beers from Chicago’s Arcade Brewery’s artist and community inspired beers. Use the creative juices as inspiration in customizing a pair of your own shoes from Bucketfeet – a Chicago based organization that collaborates with artists from around the world to create shoes that tell a fashionable story.

 

HOUSE GRAFFITI ON GREEN
SATURDAY, JANUARY 24TH, 9AM – 1PM

The rotating street art display welcomes local artist The Lie for its second installment of House Graffiti on Green. The monthly series highlights local artists who have the opportunity to create original designs for Soho’s exterior cornerstones, located just outside the property’s public facing restaurants, Chicken Shop and Pizza East. Observers are welcome to watch the artists live in action, while enjoying complimentary Dirty Burgers from Chicken Shop. Works from The Paper Crown Gallery will also be on display on the ground floor for purchase. No RSVP necessary.

 

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT HIGH TEA
SATURDAY, JANUARY 24TH, 3PM – 5PM

Art week and our celebration of Damien Hirst’s butterfly artwork continues with this family friendly event. Afternoon tea will undergo a butterfly-themed metamorphosis, face painters will be waiting in the wings, and the kids’ insect artwork will be suspended on a balloon that will float like a butterfly up to the ceiling of The Allis.

 

ART TALK WITH WASALU JACO
SUNDAY, JANUARY 25TH, 12PM – 2PM

Chicago-born rapper, producer, entrepreneur and artist Wasalu Jaco (aka Lupe Fiasco) will introduce key pieces from his art collection with a brunch-time reception and discussion at Pizza East on Sunday, January 25. The collection, created under the artist’s real name, includes the original artwork for his new album, Tetsuo and Youth, coming out on January 20th along with pieces from his most recent collection. The art collection will be on view and available for purchase starting January 23 in Pizza East. Space available on a first-come, first-served basis.
